“Denisha “Coco” Blossom, is a  Poet-Mentor Educator, Author, Social Influencer & Scholar Activist. She received her BA in African American Studies with emphasis in Hip-Hop and Education. She received her AA degrees in Organizational Communication and Liberal Arts at Cosumnes River College. She is currently the Associate Director of SAYS (Sacramento Area Youth Speaks) which is an outreach program at UC Davis that empowers youth and transform education by creating platforms for youth to plug into their power and become change agents of their own lives. Her passion lies in empowering others through spoken word, arts education, and by sharing her story. She believes spoken word is the most powerful element of healing the soul, and the fuse to create change in the world. Her poetic memoir is out now! In Coco’s debut poetic memoir, "The Makings of a Project Queen," She relives a path of self-discovery, empowerment, and healing as she shines a light on key issues impacting inner-city Black girls today. She uses a collection of poems and short behind-the-scenes stories to take others on an inspirational journey of a hood scholar who forged her own path as a community-based educator and scholar-activist.
